A Louisiana couple indicted on second-degree murder charges in the death of their severely autistic daughter who was discovered 'fused' to a sofa by her own excrement insisted that she never wanted to leave the couch. Clay, 65, and Sheila Fletcher, 64, were arrested on Monday and indicted by a grand jury on second-degree murder charges in the death of Lacey Fletcher, 36, whose emaciated body partly submerged in a hole in a couch at their home in January.Speaking to law enforcement, the Fletchers allegedly insisted that it was Lacey who made the decision to remain on the couch for 12 years, NOLA.com reported. They told investigators that their daughter, who had developed 'some degree of Asperger's syndrome of 9th grade when she started being home schooled,' would use the couch or a nearby towel as her bathroom. Coroner Dr. Ewell Dewitt Bickham III, with the East Feliciana Parish Coroner's Office, said, that based on evidence, it looked as if Lacey had been on that couch for almost 12 years. Bickham also told WAFB that medical records show that Lacey Fletcher did not have a primary care physician. 'In 2010, the parents went to the doctor's office without Lacey and asked his advice on what to do,' Bickham said. 'She is increasingly not wanting to leave the house, not wanting to leave the sofa, just totally recluse.' Bickham said the doctor told her parents to bring their daughter to the hospital, yet she was never admitted and no treatment was provided. The Fletchers were arrested Monday and then indicted on second-degree murder charges. A trial date has not yet been set.

Three children were injured when a bounce house got caught in a gust of wind created by a law enforcement helicopter this past Saturday. The horror unfolded during the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department's open house at the cops' headquarters in the city around 10:30 a.m. According to a statement from the department, a helicopter operated by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department was  flying over the festivities when its downdraft caused several canopies and the bounce house to lift off the ground. Three children needed to be hospitalized with injuries following the lift off. There was one child inside of the bounce house when it flew away. That child did not require medical transport.

The longtime thespian passed away at his home in Santa Monica on Friday his lifer partner Michele Roberge told the New York Times . He had battled Alzheimer's for five years before succumbing aged 83 on April  29. After finding early success on Broadway, he landed a starring role on sitcom Bridget Loves Bernie in 1972 which was considered one of the most controversial television shows of the time.

Edison Cruz, 25, reportedly blasted a 31-year-old man during an overnight attack on East Burnside Avenue and Grand Concourse in The Bronx's Mount Hope neighborhood, authorities said. Police responded to reports of gunfire at the store around 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday. Disturbing surveillance video of the altercation shows the victim seemingly wielding a baseball bat at Cruz before running inside a bodega when he realized Cruz pulled out a gun. Cruz proceeded to open fire from the sidewalk, according to law enforcement. The fatal victim was shot in the head and the torso while another man and a woman, both 34, were struck in the arm and chest, respectively.

Cornwall resident Cody Gillotti, who said the wild animal had 'totaled' his mother-in-law's Subaru, said he'd been relaxing at home when he saw the car's internal lights go on when the door was opened. He went outside to find a large bear sitting in the passenger seat, looking almost as surprised to see him, as he was to find it.
